Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 532

                                                08 September 2016

                                                         Stings

Please see enclosed bulletin regarding stings, shared with us by ExxonMobil.

Although most insects in the UK do not pose a serious health risk, some people do experience
significant allergic reactions to wasp and bee stings. False widow spiders are also becoming more
common in the UK (see http://xmostrata.com/false-widow-spiders-3/ ).

If you see an insect nest, keep clear of it and warn others of its location. Contact your line manager if
you need to work in the area so that it can safely be removed by specialist contractors. Never attempt
           to move a nest yourself.

If you are stung, even if you suffer no significant reaction, always report the incident to your line
           manager.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works
for us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
