Manual Handling Hand Injury
Please see enclosed safety alert regarding a hand injury that was shared with us by JCI.
This highlights the need to always stop and carry out a Last Minute Risk Assessment (LMRA) before
any task, and to always wear appropriate gloves. Your LMRA card has a list of hazards that you should
consider (they are also listed on the Xmo clearance certificate), use this list to help you consider all the
potential hazards, before you start work. Once you have identified the hazards, decide how you are
going to control them; do not start if you cannot control the hazard. If you are unsure on anything
contact your line manager.
Fluorescent tubes are classified as hazardous waste because they contain mercury. They have to be
disposed of by a licensed hazardous waste dealer and should never be left on site. We have an account
with CEF for this purpose.
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
