Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 442
18 December 2014
Seasonal Driving
Please see enclosed two bulletins regarding driving over the holidays that was shared with us by
ExxonMobil and JCI.
According to the latest statistics from the Department of Transport, 1,713 people were killed and 21,657
people were seriously injured in road accidents in 2013. A total of 183,670 people suffered some form
of injury in accidents reported to the police.
“Driver/rider failed to look properly” was the most commonly recorded cause in serious and slight
accidents. For fatal accidents, “loss of control” was the most commonly recorded cause, accounting for
34 per cent of cases.
Always take extra care to ensure your vehicle is roadworthy, including removing any snow that could
fall off, and completely clearing/defrosting the windows.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
