Xmo Strata Delivers GBP 3 Million Saving On Sign Maintenance Contract
05 September 2008
Leading sign maintenance specialist Xmo Strata has reached a major milestone by saving its customer a projected £3 million. It has also been awarded a five year contract extension as a result.
The company has worked alongside global engineering giant ABB since 2005 with the mandate to ‘deliver value, reduce costs and provide unparalleled levels of safety performance’.
“Our customer is one of the most safety-conscious companies in the world,” said ABB Project Engineer, Dan Pass. “It is refreshing to find a contractor such as Xmo Strata who can understand the strategic imperative and help us to find ways of driving cost out and building value in.”
“Their team has been able to offer pro-active and honest solutions to achieve major savings for us over the last three years. This has included process engineering, rationalisation, maximising transport and logistics performance - particularly on signware ordered from lower cost European suppliers - as well as value engineering the product,” he added.
“We recently consulted Xmo Strata with a view to replace many of the older price signs in our customer's network. The company developed an innovative way of re-panelling and painting the existing signs in situ, which saw huge financial benefits,” said Mr Pass.
Whilst the savings so far have been “incredibly impressive”, Mr Pass commented that by working with Xmo Strata, ABB could gain even more savings during the newly extended five-year phase of their partnership.
The extended contract - which covers all image, signware and canopy maintenance - will include the prestigious ‘On the Run’ sites managed by ABB, securing the work of Xmo Strata until 2013.
“Unlike some other facilities management providers who seem to spend their management resource tendering and driving costs down, often resulting in contractors cutting corners, we prefer to work closely with fewer, well managed companies who value our business, and know there will be a mutual benefit in working with us for many years to come,” said Mr Pass.
Managing Director of Xmo Strata, Steve Martin commented: “ABB is a very demanding customer, focused on contract deliverables, and appreciative when contractors can share an understanding of those aims and assist in making them happen. Contracts like this are becoming increasingly common in the industry and they allow us to generate real cost savings and add value for customers.”
