Urgent safety time out

25th January 2008

At 11.00am on Tuesday 29th January, all Xmo Strata site teams are instructed to stop work for 20 minutes (wherever in the country they are working) to discuss and encourage all others on site, to break and think specifically about safety. Our Area supervisors will remind each team just beforehand and clarify any questions that are raised.

We currently have a short term spike in business which means customer sites are very busy with us and other contractors, and we want to make absolutely sure that this does not result in any incidents

The agenda should be:-

  1. The Global Alliance incident safety bulletin.
  2. Take a good look around and discuss what the risks are at this moment in time.
  3. Discuss why people take more chances when they are busy and what the ramifications of an accident can be to the injured person, his family, his employer and his customer.

Team leaders will be asked to get others to sign a toolbox talk sheet.
Area supervisors will follow up and record each team leader’s feedback.
The results will be discussed at the next company safety meeting.

Think safety, plan safely – then we all have a much better chance of avoiding anyone being hurt!
