Surveyor and Validator
SurveyorCrew trained, Experienced and Equipped to survey and document sites. and Validator
What my role at Xmo Strata involves:
A site validation takes place following a detailed survey. When work is commissioned, a validation will show the customer the ‘before’ and ‘after’ views of the site for approval before work commences.
It is my responsibility to survey the site (i.e. look at all signware, painting and electrical work), present this in a visual format (i.e. the validation document) and outline all costs for discussion/approval with the customer.
Before joining Xmo Strata:
I have worked within the sign industry since I left university in 1980. My first job was as a draughtsman, I then worked for several companies before joining Xmo Strata in 2003.
Describe a typical day at work:
Although I work from home, I try to maintain the schedule of a typical working day. I start work at 8.30am and finish at 5pm. It’s not always easy as it lacks the buzz of an office environment; however, it’s great if I’m very busy, as there are no distractions.
Things that make my job challenging:
New projects are always a good challenge. I enjoy getting the initial thumb-nail sketch, or an idea from a designer, and developing the construction drawings for the manufacturers.
Why I joined Xmo Strata:
I have known and worked for the Managing Director of Xmo Strata for many years. I also know the company and what it stands for, so the decision to work for Xmo Strata was a very easy one to make.
The best thing about my job:
Taking the designer’s “blue sky” idea and bringing it to life. It’s a real sense of achievement to see the end results on-site.
What I do in my spare time:
I have three great passions; travelling, photography and football.
I am proud to have seen the Great Wall of China, the pyramids of Giza and the Grand Canyon; the rest are on my ‘to-do’ list.
